When we acquired this art deco-style 1970s bag it was missing its label, so we weren't sure if we could attribute it to designer Miriam Marshall. We reached out to her via email and were delighted when she responded. She confirmed that this was hers and that she believes only about 20 of this design were made. "I got the idea for the Art Deco motif from the elevator doors of The Empire State Bldg. I made it in the mid-'70s. A very elegant time in NYC," she wrote. "My shop was called Port of Call. Stanley Marcus of Neiman Marcus and Geraldine Stutz, President of Bendel’s, were my mentors. I travelled to far away places using the craftsmen of the country to create bags and jewelry." A huge thank you to Miriam Marshall Segal for sharing her story with us!
