SPECIAL APRIL FOOL'S DAY POST! Needlework Cosmetic Bag or Small Clutch with Incorrect Label

SPECIAL POST: This small clutch has a Jolles Plasti-Quilt label sewn inside. Plasti-Quilt was a trademark used by the Jolles company for a line of 1940s plastic tile handbags. We've been asked many times over the years if people "fake" vintage (non-high end designer) handbags and the answer is usually no, but we've seen it a few times (specifically, in one instance, someone selling a fake Walborg beaded poodle clutch with the wrong tag sewn inside). In this case, however, we think what happened here is fairly innocuous.

We believe the original lining--and possibly the plastic diamond-shaped zipper pull--are from the 1940s Plasti-Quilt bag, which was probably damaged beyond repair. The owner simply used the lining and zipper pull from the 1940s purse and repurposed it with this circa 1960s needlework clutch. We've seen this DIY repurposing in person once before, with one of our Virginia Art Goods Studios handbags.
